The Hopeful Hymn of Reason

The Hopeful Hymn of Reason
By R.A. Zorger
(to the tune of The Battle Hymn of the Republic)

My mind conceives the glory of a coming golden age
Common folk will all be learning with the wisdom of a sage
The pursuit of knowledge will put evil in it’s cage
Only truth will make us strong.

Glory! Glory! In all humans!
Glory! Glory! Comes from humans!
Glory! Glory! We are human!
The truth will make us strong.

The mysteries of nature, through science we’ll advance
We’ll pierce the veil of ignorance with free inquiry’s lance
The quality of life for all is what we shall enhance
This truth shall make us strong.

Glory! Glory! In all humans!
Glory! Glory! Comes from humans!
Glory! Glory! We are human!
The truth will make us strong.

We are a diverse, resourceful race our history is long
Empirical truth we embrace when ancient creeds prove wrong
Self deceit is weakness even if shouted by the throng
The truth will make us strong.

Glory! Glory! In all humans!
Glory! Glory! Comes from humans!
Glory! Glory! We are human!
The truth will make us strong.

Evolution through a billion years; The shape of life transforms
From one cell to a primate, to our present bipedal forms
Reason shines our guiding light to weather the nescient storms
The truth will make us strong.

Glory! Glory! In all humans!
Glory! Glory! Comes from humans!
Glory! Glory! We are human!
The truth will make us strong.

The truth’s a Sun that trickery, can never in full conceal
Our progress is as relentless as the fiery rolling wheel
The pinions of duress will never reduce our zeal
The truth has made us strong

Glory! Glory! In all humans!
Glory! Glory! Comes from humans!
Glory! Glory! We are human!
The truth will make us strong.
